Day 21 - An Extra 30+ Miles (June 22nd, 2024)

Henry and I slept in while my dad went for a hike.  He saw a bison grazing at the end of the trail.  After breakfast, we walked to the main road and stuck our thumbs out, hoping to get to Old Faithful.  After thirty minutes of cars ignoring us, we hopped on our bikes and rode 18 miles.  The people willing to take us were going in the wrong direction.  Along the way to Old Faithful, we saw bison and beautiful waterfalls.  After reaching Old Faithful, we stayed for a couple hours.  My dad and I were up on the deck while Henry got a close-up shot of the geyser.  We headed back and grabbed our gear before heading to Canyon Village.  There we got groceries and went to register for a campsite.  It took us thirty minutes to register: fifteen staying in line and another fifteen standing at the desk while a new worker was trying to figure out how the system worked.  Ultimately, a more experienced worker took on my dad and didn't charge him for Henry and me.
While my dad was in line, we saw a car pull into the parking lot, and two guys hopped out. One of the guys hitchhiked to the campsite because the bearing on his front wheel was all messed up. As we were talking to him, he told us that he was riding from Seattle to Montana, and that's when his wheel broke. The guy then told us that he would be stuck in Yellowstone for a week before a new wheel could be shipped to him.
We had ramen noodles, chopped-up hot dogs, and beans for dinner, and we finally found a dinner that filled us up the most. We ensured all the food was in a food locker and hoped that a grizzly bear wouldn't come into the camp. Someone told us they had to deal with a grizzly in the area that afternoon.

Day 1 (June 2nd, 2024) - A brutal start

 After getting dropped off at the starting point, we had to build our bikes.  It was raining cats and dogs.  We built our bikes Us eating dinner under a shelter that's supposed to be reserved in advance Us packing things into panniers at the entrance of the museum Our campsite for the night and then started our 10-mile bike ride to the campsite.  It was one of the most challenging rides I have done.  The wind was so fierce you had to peddle to go downhill.  You can see a video (near the end)  of the ride here :  Video You can follow us on Strava here   https://strava.app.link/ O0Be5Qxr8Jb

Day 4 (June 5th, 2024)

          B y : L a y l a Eating breakfast with Gary Passing wild radish flower farms Braking for lunch away from the sun With the Cirullo family      In the morning, we ate a delicious breakfast with our host, Gary. Gary cooked us our first hot meal in what felt like a while, which consisted of pancakes with sausage and bacon.  While talking with him, we learned that Gary is a man in his 60s with a voice that isn't loud but carries through the air clearly. He is undoubtedly a man of the woods and truly believes in being a hard worker, supporting others to the best of his ability, and never walking away from an open door that leads to adventures.   He told stories of funny things he had experienced during his cycling hobby.  When Gary talked about his children, a proud glint showed in his eyes.  He is proud of his kids and what they are doing.   As much as he could, he tried to take time to spend with his children.   Gary is a wonderful, incredibly generous, and kindhearted host.
